My final footage for my final major project
The project consists of the visualisation of sound recordings taken from speakers coming from different genders and different voice tones. I gave my speakers two sentences, commonly used in elocution, which represent smooth and more powerful phraseology. Sound is physical so I filmed the movement of granular materials (cinnamon, salt, baby powder and coffee grains) on a thin surface placed on an amplifier reacting to the spoken recordings. The film consists of many shorter films, each one showing both side view and plan view of the granular materials reacting to the sound.
My aim has been to open up the subject of the visualisation of speech to a wider audience through the communication of the shape, movement and rhythm of language to visually represent the difference in speech patterns.
